Made In Japan Fish Collagen Peptide

What Is Fish Collagen?

Fish collagen is a complex structural protein that helps maintain the strength and flexibility of skin, ligaments, joints, bones, muscles, tendons, blood vessels, gums, eyes, nails and hair. It makes up approximately 30% of the body’s protein. It’s a type I collagen, which is the most abundant collagen in the human body. Type I is best known for providing the foundation for beautiful skin, strong connective tissues and sturdy bones.
Fish collagen peptides have very specific amino acid compositions with a high concentration of glycine, hydroxyproline and proline. When fish collagen is ingested, hydroxyproline peptides are not completely digested to free amino acids and can be detected in the blood. These hydroxyproline peptides stimulate cells in the skin, joints and bones, and lead to collagen synthesis through cell activation and growth.
Best Bioavailability:
Fish collagen peptides are known to have the best absorption and bioavailability due to their smaller particle sizes compared to other animal collagens, making them antioxidant powerhouses. Bioavailability is highly important since it largely determines the efficacy of any nutrient you ingest.
Fish collagen is absorbed up to 1.5 times more efficiently into the body and has superior bioavailability over bovine or porcine collagens. Since it is absorbed more efficiently and enters the bloodstream more quickly, it is considered the best collagen source for medicinal purposes.
Fish collagen’s ability to be more easily absorbed by our bodies is thanks to its lower molecular weight and size, which allows the collagen to be absorbed at a higher level through the intestinal barrier into the bloodstream and carried throughout the body. This leads to collagen synthesis in the joint tissues, bones, skin dermis and many other essential body systems. Since we don’t tend to eat the parts of the fish containing collagen (mainly skin and scales), making homemade fish stock or supplementing with collagen is the next best thing.

Health Benefits of Fish Collagen:

1. Anti-Ageing:
Fish collagen has become quite a rage in beauty. It has been shown to have anti-aging properties, particularly for our skin. Collagen in our skin actually begins to break down at a young age of about 21. As we get older, we continue to lose more and more of our own collagen, and considering Type I collagen makes up 70% of our skin, replenishing it is important for maintaining healthy, happy, youthful skin. Fish collagen has shown to decrease the amount of wrinkles and appearance of cellulite in our skin. In addition, fish collagen can improve skin hydration, firmness, smoothness, elasticity, and suppleness!
2. Bones Healing and Regeneration:
Fish collagen has recently shown its ability to increase the body’s own natural collagen production. One of the most common signs of aging is the loss of bone mass. This can lead to osteoporosis, a condition that millions of people across the world suffer from. While minerals like phosphorus and calcium are great for promoting and maintaining bone strength, they are not easy to absorb into the bloodstream. That’s why many people are at risk for bone diseases due to bone loss and mineral deficiencies. Fish collagen may help your bone strength by supporting the absorption process of calcium and other minerals that are vital for bone strength.
Supplementing with fish collagen may help stimulate collagen synthesis in bones, which is done by promoting osteoblasts (cell that helps build the bone matrix). This means that fish collagen can regenerate and heal your bones!
3. Stabilize Blood Sugar:
Glycine has been studied for its various benefits to the human body, and fish collagen is uniquely packed with higher levels of glycine than any other types of collagen! And the glycine in fish collagen may help stabilize blood sugar.
Researchers have recently found evidence that low levels of glycine in the body may lead to insulin resistance, which can lead to diabetes. Indeed, in a 2016 study conducted by the Alberta Diabetes Institute, people with type 2 diabetes have been found to have low levels of glycine in their bodies. Therefore, supplementing with glycine rich fish collagen may help stabilize your blood sugar levels and prevent insulin resistance glycine.
